Atlanta's Darrell Evans had a game he won't soon forget. Evans went 5 for 6 with 8 RBI in the Brave's pounding of the SF Giants 19-8. He hit 3 homeruns off Giant starter Juan Marichal, then added 2 triples later on in the game. The 8 RBI are the most by any batter in a game this season in the NL.

Evans was in a groove all evening. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 3rd inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 4th inning, tripled clearing all three ducks off the pond in the 4th inning and tripled in the 8th inning. Atlanta lit up the scoreboard in the 3rd inning which saw them score 4 runs on 6 hits and the 4th inning when they had 10 runs on 8 hits. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 6 times. Pat Dobson(4-3) was the winner allowing 7 runs in 5 innings. Tom House earned his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Juan Marichal(4-3). He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 3 innings of work.
