1973 AL Game: Cal. @ Min.

 April 18, 1973

  The California and Minnesota locked up in a pitcher's duel today with the Angels coming away with a 1-0 win. Nolan Ryan struck out 15 batters in the shutout Win, his 3rd of the season. Burt Blyleven was the tough luck loser.

Nolan Ryan racked up an impressive total of 15 strikeouts at Metropolitan
Stadium as the California Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 1 to 0.
 
Ryan(3-0) simply dominated Minnesota.  He gave up just 6 hits and 5 walks in 9
innings improving his ERA from 2.00 to 1.33.  Minnesota had a chance to come
back in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
The loss was charged to Bert Blyleven(1-3).  He pitched 9 innings giving up
only 4 hits and 2 walks. 'He was really impressive today,' Blyleven said of
his counterpart.  'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
