Left fielder Willie Horton cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Detroit
Tigers defeated the Boston Red Sox by a score of 12 to 6 at Fenway
Park.
Horton was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He clubbed a two-run home run in the 1st inning,
hit a single in the 2nd inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 5th inning,
slapped a one-base hit in the 7th inning and ripped a base-knock in the 8th
inning. Overall Detroit out-hit Boston 16 to 7.
The victory was credited to Joe Coleman(3-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 5
runs. Lynn McGlothen(0-1) ended up with the loss. Horton was in a good mood
after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball real well now. I made
some adjustments last week and they are paying off. That's what this game is
about. making adjustments as the season goes along.'
