1973 AL Standings and League Leaders

 June 1, 1973

It's June 1st in the 1973 AL season. The Baltimore Orioles are in 1st place in the AL East and have the best overall record in the league. They have an 8.5 game lead over my 2nd place Detroit Tigers. The AL West is much more closely contested. The Chicago White Sox have a 2 game lead over the Oakland A's. The Minnesota Twins are only 3 games back, while Kansas City and California are 5 and 6 games back respectively.
New York Yankee Bobby Murcer is still making a run at the Triple Crown. He's 1st in HR and RBI and 2nd in BA. There's been many good pitching performances this season. Boston's Luis Tiant, Chicago's Wilbur Wood, California's Nolan Ryan, and Oakland's Ken Holtzman are some of the top pitchers.

1973 NL Standings and League Leaders

 June 1, 1973

We've reached the 1st of June in the 1973 NL season. The New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to lead their Divisions. LA has proven to be the top team in the NL by a large margin. New York is the only team in the NL East to be above .500. SF and Atlanta have gotten off to good starts, and the powerful Cincinnati Reds have finally gotten going. The rest of the teams in the NL have been struggling.
Atlanta's Darrell Evans has been a standout player so far. He leads the league in RBI, is 2nd in Hr's and 3rd in BA. LA's Don Sutton has been the top pitcher (8-1, 1.30 ERA).
