Jim Colborn dominated striking out 10 Baltimore batters as the Milwaukee
Brewers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 10 to 1 at Memorial
Stadium.
Colborn(1-0) simply dominated Baltimore. He didn't give up much, just 4 hits
and no walks in 9 innings. Milwaukee banged out 15 hits on the afternoon.
Dave McNally(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He was touched for 14 hits and 5
walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. 'All of my pitches were working today,' Colborn
said. 'I felt really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone
longer.'

Luis Tiant allowed Eddie Kasko to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Reggie Smith left the yard and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated
the New York Yankees by the score of 6 to 2 at Fenway Park.
Tiant(1-0) delivered a fine performance for Boston. He went 9 innings
allowing 7 hits and 1 walk. Boston totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.
Mel Stottlemyre(0-1) took the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 4 walks in 8
innings.

One run was the difference at Oakland Co Colisuem as the Minnesota Twins
defeated the Oakland A's 4 to 3.
Minnesota scored the deciding run in the 9th inning. After an out was
recorded, George Mitterwald hit a bases-empty home run. Minnesota had a
total of 8 hits for the game.
The win was credited to Bert Blyleven(1-0) who went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing
3 runs. Ray Corbin got the save, his 1st. Catfish Hunter(0-1) absorbed the
loss. He pitched 8 and 1/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 2 walks.

Nolan Ryan went the distance as the California Angels bested the Kansas City
Royals 5 to 3 at Anaheim Stadium.
Ryan(1-0) looked very much in control throughout the night. He didn't allow

their victory.
Steve Busby(0-1) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 8 hits
